My condolences and prayers go out to Jose's family.

I keep replaying in my head, the events that happened on Saturday, thinking that I had just talked to Jose minutes before the tragic event. He was as good and kind hearted of a person that you'll even meet. I feel blessed for having been given the opportunity to know him. I know it was only through softball and I want to say that I didn't know him personally... but truth be told, you only had to meet him once to know him personally. He was genuine, he put himself out there and he always made you feel comfortable and welcome.

I have so many great softball memories, as do so many others.

To echo some of the other remarks, indeed Wheeling softball will never be the same. It's not just because we lost Jose... It's more than that, it’s knowing how much better off we all are for having had Jose around for all these years.

You will be missed my friend but never forgotten. Save me a spot on the All-star team, for when we meet again.

Godspeed Jose!

My deepest condolences go out to Jose's family, may god grant you the strength to get through this very difficult time.

I did not have the privilege to know Jose other than the occasional "Hello, how are you". Even though I did know him I always felt that he seemed to be the kind of person that he is described to have been. He is someone that people respect and look up to and whish to be like him.

Jose, your warm and kind smile will be missed, may you rest in peace.

My prayers go out to the entire family. Jose was the nicest and most gentile man I have ever known. Everytime I saw him at the field he always had a smile and a kind gesture for me. Softball at Heritage Park will never be the same. It was tough not seeing him tonight.

He will always be missed and loved more than anyone will ever know. Rest is peace my friend. Until we meet again.

I had the pleasure to meet Jose at HSBC. I had never met anyone who exuded an aura of peace and kindness in their eyes and smile the way Jose did. In the little time I knew Jose, he touched my life and I will always remember him as one of the nicest people I've ever had the pleasure to know.

Many years ago my family had the pleasure of meeting Jose Rodriguez. Over the years of working with Jose at HSBC and seeing him at Xavier's soccer games where with our children played, we quickly became friends with Jose.
Softball was our pastime. Our family and friends played many games on Jose's NBC team and on Friday's Jose would help coach our Ball Busters team. With love and respect we all called him Coach. The game of softball will never be the same with out our dear friend and coach, Jose. He will be remembered as a kind and loving man who was like an uncle to many of us. We will forever miss him, but will have comfort knowing Jose is now in Heaven and watching over his family.

Jose was by far one of the most genuine people I have met, and, never in more than 10 years working with him, did I see him without a kind word or a smile. He had his funny edge too, and we would make comments that would leave us both laughing as we parted and went our separate ways. He loved his family more than anything and would talk about you all the time...God's speed Jose. We will miss you so much.

I worked with Jose for soo many years at Household/HSBC. There was not a kinder, warmer man who was always so very nice to EVERYONE he came in contact with. I remember how compassionate he was to me when my husband passed in 2001. Our work environment was just a much better place because of Jose. There will be a huge 'hole' - he will be greatly missed.

Heaven has gained an angel and we here at the office have suffered a terrible loss. What a sweet spirit of a person who loved his family, remembered every name in this in every building he worked at, and cheerfully went about his way brining a smile to many and dropping a kind word or two where it would do the most good. I remember him talking about his family and the things he wanted to do for them. I think the greatest gift he would ever give them was love.

Now even in death he inspires smiles mixed in with the tears of those who miss him the most. Some people never know the far reaching impacts of their contribution to the lives of the people around them and this man will be sorely missed by all of us here at HSBC. Now his new task will be to watch over his family in love and rest in perfect peace. Yes heaven has gained another angel but the light of his life shone upon us all. Carry on his quiet, thoughtful way to honor him and he will live in our hearts and memories for ever. RIP.
