Paul Robert Allen

Mr. Paul Robert Allen, 65, of Aiken, died Saturday, August 28, 2010 at Pepper Hill Nursing Home. Services are private and under the direction of South Carolina Cremation & Burial Society, Graniteville.

A son of   Anita Baird Allen and the late Elwood Allen, he was born in Hartland, ME and had lived in Medford, NJ, Medway, MA and Groton, CT before moving to Aiken in 1991. Paul served in the US Navy as an electronics technician on the submarines Ethan Allen, (SSBN608), Robert E. Lee (SSBN601) and the Trepang (SSN674).

Upon returning from his military service, he worked for thirty two years as a nuclear engineer with Stone & Webster, which eventually merged with Shaw/Areva, coming to work at the Savannah River Site in 1991. He will be remembered as an honorable and hard working man.

Surviving are his wife; Joyce Etherton Allen, Aiken, a son; Kevin Brett Allen,  Dover, NH, a step son; Jeffrey Mahuna, Two Rivers, WI,  two step daughters; Tina Mitchell, Portland, OR and Rita Bernzott, Ocala, FL, his mother; Anita Baird Allen, St. Albans, ME, a brother; Dane Allen, Hartland, ME and two sisters; Martha Allen, St. Albans, ME and Pam Allen, Bath, ME. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and one great grandson.
