Mr. Ammons, 56, of Charleston, died Thursday, January 20, 2011 at Ralph A. Johnson VA Medical Center.
Born in Charleston, SC the as the son of the James H. Ammons, Sr. and Lula Lee Wingate Ammons. He served his country in the Army National Guard. He was a painter and roofer. His favorite bible verse was Psalm 83:18 "That people may know that you, whose name is Jehovah, you alone are the Most High over all the earth."In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Patricia R. Ammons, daughter, Melissa G. Handy, Johns Island, SC; son, Jason J. Ammons, James Island, SC; sister, Fran Welch Ammons, Raleigh, NC; and four grandchildren. He is also survived by three step children and six step grand children.
