Brian Keith Duncan

Brian Keith Duncan, 57, a wonderful brother, uncle, and friend died at his home in Columbia, SC after an extended illness.  Born in Greenville, SC, his was the son of the late Morris and Thalia Duncan. 

Brian grew up in Taylors and graduated Eastside High School in 1974.  He went on to complete a degree in Journalism at the University of South Carolina.  After graduation, he taught in the School of Journalism where he gave an introduction to creative writing. 

He began his career at the State Newspaper as a staff writer/editor covering elected and regulatory local and state governmental agencies, the courts, and the utility industry. Brian joined South Carolina Electric and Gas in 1985 as a Communications Specialist and later became the Public Affairs Coordinator.  In 2005 Brian joined Colonial Life where he worked until 2012. 

Brian was an avid golfer and enjoyed golf courses all over the world. He was also a runner and completed major marathons in the US.  Constant throughout his life was a love of Carolina sports.

He is survived by brothers, Randy Duncan (Peggy) of Greenville, SC, Gerald Duncan (Laura) of Raleigh, NC, a sister Stacie Burnett (Jimmy) of Greer, SC, a nephew Corey Duncan (Elizabeth), nieces, Taylor, Mackenzie, and Jamie Burnett, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
