Lewis (Louie)  A. Miele, 88, of Lexington, SC passed away on November 24, 2013 from Alzheimers at the C. M. Tucker Veterans Home, Columbia.

A memorial service will be held at a later date and burial at sea will take place through Naval Station Arlington, VA.

Lewis  was born in Curwensville, PA on December 3, 1924. He graduated from Curwensville High School and joined the Navy for three years  of active duty.  During this time he earned the Victory Medal, Good Conduct and Sharp Shooters Medal. He later joined the Naval Reserve and retired after sixteen years.

Lewis was married to Theodora Barber on February 26, 1946. They were married for fifty-nine years.

Louie worked as a transportation construction inspector supervisor at PennDot for twenty two years. He owned and operated the Ritz Grill Restaurant adjacent the Ritz Theatre for eleven years.  Louie enjoyed spending time doing activities with his children including fishing, swimming, traveling and was a creative storyteller. He was also active in The Sons of Italy and the Knights of Columbus, for several years.

In addition to his parents, he was pre-deceased  by his wife, Theodora Miele, three brothers and three sisters.

Louie is survived by two daughters, Rita Miele of  Columbia, SC and Carol Miele Snyder, Clearfield, PA;  three sons, Nick Miele, Clearfield, PA,  Peter Miele, Scranton, PA  and Andrew Miele, Perkasie, PA; a brother, Anthony Miele, Kansas City, KS.  He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Haley Jean Sankey, Danielle Snyder, Michael Snyder, Tyler Miele, Trevor Miele, Tanner Miele and Brendan Miele.
