PALM DESERT, CA; Robert T. McLaurin went to be with our Lord on July 21, 2013 at the Odyssey Hospice care center, whose staff provided comfort. He was born on September 29. 1930 in Honolulu, Hawaii to the late Oscar T. and Annie C. McLaurin. He lived in American Samoa, Panama, Groton CT and other places around the world where his Navy Father was stationed. He was educated in Connecticut at Gitch High School, Mitchell College and the University of Connecticut as a Civil Engineer and pledge of Alpha Sigma Phi. After graduation he served in various engineering and production management positions at Electric Boat Division General Dynamics Corporation in the design and construction of the first nuclear powered submarine, Nautilus and subsequent attack and missile submarines. Later Bob was Vice President of Manufacturing at Wallworth Division of Studebaker Worthington; and Senior Vice President, Executive Vice President and Chairman of the Board of Asian Operations Division of Watts Water Technologies. He retired at the end of 2003 and continued consulting work through 2007. He is survived by his by his loving wife and soul mate Linda D McLaurin; daughters Elizabeth McLaurin Smith and Margaret McLaurin; granddaughters Amy Smith Nesko, Jody Smith and Leslie Benjamin; great grandsons Daniel and Andrew Nesko ; brother Kenneth; and many other relatives and adoptive family. He is predeceased by his first wife Frances Keiper McLaurin. During his lifetime he was a Mason, Elk, and member of many professional organizations; the Pequot, Concord and Latrobe Country Clubs; and enjoyed playing golf throughout the country. Bob enjoyed life the fullest and will be missed forever by his family and many friends. He was compassionately and thoughtfully attended by private doctors and staffs on the Eisenhower Memorial Hospital and the Odyssey Hospice care center. A private memorial service will be held later. Make contributions to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.
