Stonemason Byron Clapp dies at age of 78
Byron Clapp died peacefully with family members at his side on February 5th, 2014 after an intense battle with bone cancer. He had been surrounded by his family and friends in the days leading up to his death which was of great comfort to Bud.
Born in Yakima in 1935 to Irving Clarence Clapp and Kathleen Emaline Hartkopf, he was the second of six children Gerald, Karen, Fay, Patsy and Linda. He married June Morrison and they had six children Guy Gregory, Chad Earling, Mark David, Scott Allan, Laurie Anne and Todd Byron. Bud is survived by nine grandchildren Aaron, Stevor, Michele, Karl, Stiven, Haley, Shannon, Carly and Katie and by 8 great grandchildren. Bud was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Karen and his sons Mark and Todd.
Bud was a very talented stone mason and bricklayer. He worked in Washington State and Alaska and leaves behind many works of great beauty. He loved to fly and enjoyed his Piper Cub when living in Alaska. He was also an avid golfer. Bud experienced a long period of declining health and was grateful for the loving care of his older brother Gerry. He really enjoyed the wonderful gardens Gerry planted each year and looked forward to his daily early morning coffee with his gang at Couzins in Rose Hill.
Bud served as the Volunteer Fire Captain for Redmond Fire Department in his early years. Memorials can be made to the Redmond Firefighters Orphans and Widows Fund care of Redmond Fire Department 8450 161st Ave NE Redmond WA 98052.
At Bud's request there will be a private scattering of ashes by the family at a later date.
