Thomas Richard Mitchell

Thomas R. Mitchell, 81, of Green Valley, AZ, passed away on March 2, 2014 after a long illness with his wife Patricia and niece Theresa at his side.

Born January 8, 1933 in Hammond IN, he was the son of James and Edith Mitchell.  He is survived by his wife of 60 yrs Patricia  A. Mitchell; daughter

Sherry Mitchell; son Gary Mitchell; preceded in death by son Steven Mitchell, daughter Karen Schwerin Mitchell and brother Roger Mitchell.  He is

also survived by his grandchildren Kevin Mitchell; Jessica Mitchell; Ashley Mitchell; Adam Schwerin and Katie.Schwerin along with one great

grand-daughter Chloe Catino and numerous nieces and nephews.

After high school Tom enlisted in the Air Force as and instructor stationed at Davis-Monthan AFB in Arizona, where he grew to love the State of

Arizona.  After leaving the Air Force he moved to Schaumburg, IL where he was employed by United Air Lines as an automotive mechanic where

he advanced to the a lead mechanic.  He retired from United with 30 years.

Due to his love of Arizona, Tom and Pat moved to Green Valley AZ in 1998.  He became active within the community of Casa Paloma 1 where

he served as president of the HOA board.  He spent alot of time at the  CP1 swimming pool where he acquired many lasting friendships.  He

also had memberships with the American Legion, Lions Club and the Masonic Lodge.  Tom  will always be remembered for his love of John Wayne

and his huge collection of John Wayne memorabilia.

There will be a memorial service on March 29, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Green Valley Community Church.
