Ka-Yui Lee, 83. A gentle soul with a compassionate heart, beloved father, brother and man of wisdom and grace.

Ka-Yui Lee, 83 of Hong Kong and Minneapolis, died February 14th, 2014 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. USA.


He was born to the late Johnson Lee and Sheung-Yuen Yeung on June 21st, 1930 in British Hong Kong.  Ka-Yui graduated from St Paulʻs Boysʻ college 聖保羅書院. He received a Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering and Mathematics from Lingnan University 嶺南大學 in Canton, China.  


Ka-Yui was a mathematic teacher at Hangchow University in Hang Zhou China upon his graduation. He continued teaching mathematics in Malaysia and Singapore. He returned to Hong Kong in 1959 and continued his career in civil engineering at the British Hong Kong Highways Department till his retirement in 1995. During those years, he worked on building the Shek Pik Reservoir, the Hong Kong Cross Harbour Tunnel, the runway extension of the Hong Kong Kai Tak Airport. His last project prior to his retirement was  the electrification of the Kowloon-Canton railroad system.  He most favorite project was working on the roads at the Hong Kong Ocean Park where he was greeted daily by the residence dolphines and seals. Ka-Yui was a citizen of the Republic of Singapore. Ka-Yui immigrated to the USA in 1997, and settled in Minneapolis, MN


Ka -Yui loved to travel and experience different cultures and food. He had been to 5 continents in the world. He loved animals, espeically dogs. He liked spending quiet time with books and simple things in life such as a good cup of aromatic Sumatra coffee. In his later years, he enjoyed growing roses and tulips. 

Ka-Yui is survived by two children and a grandchild,  Jeannie Waikiu Kūlia Lee of Redondo Beach, California USA,  Leo Yet-Ngo Lee (Wendy) of Hong Kong, SAR, China and grandson Alex Lee. He also is survived by his brother Peter Lee of Sydney, Australia; Kathy Hall (Jonathan) of Wimbledon UK; Agnes Ng (Stephen) of Vancouver, BC Canada and Irene Yeung (Kon) of Vancouver, BC Canada.
