Lawrence Dale Mc Clure

Lawrence (Larry) Dale McClure Jr. Entered peacefully into
rest on March 10, 2014 at age 70.  He was born March 17,
1943 in Martinez, California to the late Lawrence (Dale)
and Ethel McClure.  He is survived by his wife Marilyn,
children Joseph, Hilary, Emily and grandchildren Avery,
Cole, Olivia, Hayden, Xavier, Hallie, and brother Dean
McClure and sister Lynne Dery.  Larry served in the Navy
from 1961 - 1967.  He enjoyed working on cars from bumper
to bumper.  He loved to tinker with all things; taking
them apart and putting them back together, often making
his own tools to fix things.  Surprising to most, he was
an exceptional artist, and loved painting and drawing.  He
is most known and renowned for his huge Victorian
handlebar mustache and was the winner of the first
National Beard and Mustache contest in Bend, Oregon.  Per
his wishes his ashes will be scattered at sea.  A
Celebration of Life is scheduled for Sunday March 30 at
Saint Agnes Church in Concord from 1 to 3 PM.  In lieu of
flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Contra Costa
