Confession to make

I have a little confession to make. That time you came downstairs yelling at the girls "Is Joe here? He better not be down here!" I was sitting on the love seat and Dana covered me up with a blanket and sat on me like nothing was up. I still can't believe you didn't notice my size 12's sticking out the bottom of the blanket. Also, I may have indulged in the dad's root beer a time or two. It was a pleasure knowing you when I was a kid, you'll be truly missed. Ps, if you run into my mom on the other side don't tell her too many bad stories about me.

I'm a little tea pot

One night Diana asked her father to watch Rella. Rella asked me if I could sing the song for her, but I wanted Dan to sing it, so I told her to ask Poppa to sing it, I didn't remember all the words, maybe he would. Dan stood on the sidewalk and sang the entire song for his Rella including the motions. So Dan was a little a little Tea pot! :-) This was only one of many happy memories I have. Though we went our separate ways we stayed in touch and were friends. I will never forget my time with Dan and his family. I have many cherished memories of you all. Love to you all

Dan was always quick with a joke and kept us entertained. His wit, sarcasm and intelligence were unmatched. He was a great guy, who loved his girls unconditionally. And was great fun to be around. Know he will watch over you always proudly and be with you always in your memories.

Dad's Root Beer

The Reilly house always seemed to be the meeting place for all the neighborhood kids and so it seemed endless hands helping themselves to whatever in the fridge, everything except for the Dad's Root Beer of course. That was absolutely off limits and well understood by all. I don't know what it was about Mr. R's root beer, but I remember countless trips to "Greek's" Fruit Market with Diana to replenish the stash, ha ha. Also, Mr. R was a phenomenal cook, he'd make a mean corned beef and cabbage....many fond memories at the always boisterous family dinners ; ) Miss you lots....we always will.

I will always miss you Dad

I am fortunate to have been born to and raised by Dan. He was a great father, always there, always willing to help, and felt awful if he wasn't able to do so. He sometimes had a rough exterior but was a huge softie on the inside. That's what he gets for having four daughters I suppose. One of my million memories that I always appreciated and remember so fondly is his support for my writing. Him and I had made plans back when I was about 10 years old to write a Star Trek series about super genius children who piloted a starship. It would have been titled "Star Trek: The Generation After the Next Generation After That." I know it's a bit wordy, but, well, I was 10. Any how, he was very happy to co-write this book series with me, and even though it never came to fruition, his undying support meant the world to me. Yesterday, going through his things I found a short sci-fi story I wrote in 1994, on the original paper, typed on our old electric word processor. Remember those? They were a short lived writing utensil that came between typewriters and computers. Well I found this paper, from 20 years ago in tact, in his drawer. And granted my Dad liked to keep just about everything, I couldn't help but smile and cry at the same time. He still had it, 20 years later. He was my rock, my debate partner, my conscience, my Dad, and I will truly love and appreciate him until the end of my days. R.I.P. Daddy.
