Stephen J. Gallagher

Mr. Stephen J. Gallagher, age 71, of Morton, PA passed away May 22, 2014 at home after a long courageous battle with cancer.  Steve was born on September 8, 1942 in Phila.,PA, the son of the late Joseph M. and Jean (Balson) Gallagher.  Steve graduated from West Catholic High(1960) and from Temple University(1980) with a degree in Communications.  While at West Catholic he ran the 440 and  the high hurdles. Steve served his country overseas in South Korea while in the US Army from 1960-1966. For more than 15 years Steve was a letter carrier for the US Postal Service and retired in 1996. Steve was a hard working, devoted, and loving father, husband, and grandfather. He loved to travel, had political and environmental interests, and enjoyed music, reading, writing, photography, bike riding, walking, swimming, and the outdoors. Survivors: Wife of 32 years, Angela Ponte Gallagher; daughters: Katie and Sarah Gallagher; granddaughter, Marilyn.  Steve is also survived by his brother Joseph and his wife Joan of OH, and sisters; Eileen and Regina Gallagher of CA.  Viewing: Tuesday May 27, 2014 after 10:00 am in the Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Franklin Ave. Morton, PA.
