Cletus “Earl” Phillips, 94 of West Columbia, formerly of Florence  went peacefully to be with the Lord on June 21, 2014 with his family by his side.  Graveside services, with military honors, will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery 100 Cherokee Rd. Florence, SC on Wednesday June 25, 2014 at 10am

Earl was born February 5, 1920, in Kannapolis, NC.  He was the son of late Cletus Edward and Pearl Goodnight Phillips of Florence SC.  Mr. Phillips was a WWII Veteran, US Air Corps. He flew missions in the China-Burma conflict. He was the owner of Phillips Refrigeration in Florence.  Earl was an active member of the Twelve Step service club and a long time member of Central United Methodist Church in Florence, SC.


In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his loving wife Frances Agnes Phillips, of Florence SC, sisters Virginia Phillips Perry of Kannapolis NC, and twin sister Geneva Pearl Long from Cayce, SC.


  He was cared for by his nephew Clarence Eastman (Sonny) Long of Cayce, SC along with Jenni-Lynn Assisted Living and Southern Care Hospice.
