To the memory of my BABY brother

No matter how short his time was on this earth, I loved him dearly. Nick loved his sports (especially the ponies). Nick did settle down in San Diego with his one true love and soulmate, his beautiful wife Kathleen.

As much as he loved his family members, I understood and handled his quirks. Nick was always inquisitive; however the one thing that struck me funny was that at the end of any conversation was that my baby brother always told me that he loved me.

Growing up in an Italian family, Nick always was under the impression that he was a part of the Italian Mafioso. Nick was always impressed that our father was the head of the entire family, which gave him the honor of being the Godfather. If anyone held up the Italian tradition, it was Nick. However, since our mother was from England, Nick always in jest repeated what mom had said “Let your wind go free that is what killed if me.”

When me and my baby brother were at the tables in Atlantic City, at the time when Pit Bosses’ would ask for names for ratings, Nick’s sense of humor in seriousness would reply by writing his name down as “Kareem Abdul Jabir,” “Dave “The Hammer” Schulz,” “Wilt Chamberlin,” “Larry Bird,” Sugar Ray, etc. only to raise the eyebrows of the Pit Bosses’ who knew that they could not challenge him on it because they did not have that authority to call him a liar. He would never give his actual name because of him being paranoid. We would always have fun until the time my car was towed. We had to walk in the dead of winter (only wearing light jackets, no gloves, shoes not fit for walking in snow, and with no money in pocket) looking for where the car was towed to in Atlantic City.

I am not sure if this will give anyone any insight to the real Nicholas; these are some of the memories of my brother that I will never forget. I want him to remember that “I was the cute one and youngest even though I was the older brother” and Nick’s response was “yeah, yeah, yeah.” Love you baby brother, the cute one Joe.

Missing my brother

Nick was the youngest in a family of four children. To those who knew him he was a great athlete. He loved playing baseball, football and basketball. He was always kind.
Nick moved to California from Maryland in 1996. Before that he lived in South Carolina and Tennessee. My family and I visited him in all those places. Nick was the peace maker. He always called on birthdays and holidays. He knew everyone would be at my house celebrating all those events. I am sorry he didn’t live closer so we could see each other more often, but I do know I will see him in heaven with our Mother and Father. I am glad that I finally met Kathleen. As Nick would say, Kathleen was his soul mate. I am glad that I was able to see you while you were in the hospital and that you recognized Steele and I. I will miss you Nick, Love your sister Angela.

Rest in Peace Mr. Nicholas

Although I've never met Nicholas personally, since I've known and became friends with Kathleen I feel like Nicholas was also my friend. We'd always speak when he'd be dropping off or picking up Kathleen, and he helped Kathleen select Christmas gifts for me.

To Kathleen and Nicholas' loved ones, please accept our deepest condolences for your loss. Our greatest comfort in sorrow is to know that God is in control. May the Lord bless you and keep you. Num.6:24

Our times are in God's hands; our souls are in His keeping. Nicholas you are gone but you will never be forgotten.

Love, Stephanie & Eugene
