John Richard "Dick" Moorer, Jr

John Richard “Dick” Moorer, Jr., 77, of Lexington, SC died August 7, 2014 following a long battle with Lewy Bodies disease. Dick is survived by his wife, Valencia H. “Lincy” Moorer; two children, Renee M. Jones (James) of Greenville and Rick Moorer, III (Sherri) of Lexington; granddaughters, Taylor E Jones and Lauren E. Jones; a sister-in-law Susan B. Schwartz (Ron).

Dick was born in Ridgeville, SC to John R. Moorer, Sr and Helen Owens Moorer. He attended St. George schools and graduated from Presbyterian College. He was a past member of the Summerville Lions Club; Gideon’s International and served as a volunteer at Trident Medical Center. He worked as an auditor for the S.C. Tax Commission.

Services will be held at Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church at 3050 Leaphart Road, West Columbia on Saturday August 9, 2014 at 2:00pm. Burial will be private. The family will greet friends from 1:00pm until the hour of service at the church. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Hebron UMC Building fund.
