Charles Eugene Owens

    A Memorial Service, with military honors for Charles Eugene Owens, 79, will be held at 10 am, Saturday, August 23, 2014, at Woodridge Memorial Park Gazebo,  138 Corley Mill Rd. Lexington.

    Mr. Owens passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2014 at his daughter's home in Cayce. He was born on March 9, 1935, in Hampton, SC. He was the son of the late Sidney and Ottaleigh Owens.

    Mr. Owens was a decorated US Army Veteran. He received the National Defense Service Medal (10LC); Good Conduct Medal 6th Awards; Army Commendation Medal; Joint Service Commendation Medal; Senior Parachutist Badge; Four O/S Bars; Bronze Star Medal (20LC); Vietnam Campaign Medal w/ DVC 60.

   In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Deborah Joan Hoover and a brother, Clyde E. Owens Sr.

   Survivors include: his wife, Lillian (Libby) Elizabeth Owens; daughters, Skeeter Geddings (Belton) of Sandy Run, Keithea (Kitty) R. Brown (Bobby Bradley) of Cayce, Dona Jean Hendrix Moore (Joseph Osment); a son, Charles Eugene, “Gene” Owens, II, Sandy Run; grandsons, Jeremy Norris (Melody Hook), Nicholas Hoover, and Joshua Hendrix (Dr. Justine Brannock); granddaughters, Jordan Gray Hendrix (Shane Frye) and Joni Marie Hoover and a number of great grand, and great great grandchildren: nephews Billy Owens, Don Owens, and niece Sharon Owens.
