On September 9, 2014, James Clarence Hall, Sr. (Jim), 81, of Columbia,  “slipped the surly bonds of earth and gently touched the face of God.” Jim was born October 10, 1932, in Big Stone Gap, VA and grew up in Jenkins, KY.

He served in the United States Air Force and eventually was stationed in Greenville where he met Barbara Spearman. They were married for 58 years. He retired from AT&T with over 30 years service. He was a member of White Rock Baptist Church where he was an Honorary Deacon, Usher, Sunday School Teacher and Men’s Bible study leader.


Jim is survived by his wife and two sons James C. Hall Jr. (Jay) and wife Michelle of Columbia and Scott D. Hall and wife Amy of Midland, TX. Two grandchildren Claire and Connor Hall. Two brothers Edwin C. Hall and wife Martha and Ronald R. Hall and wife Carla of Ohio; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Floyd A. and Virgie A. Hall.


A memorial service, with military honors,  will take place on Saturday, September 13, 2014  at 2:00pm at White Rock Baptist Church, Chapin.
