Marty died Friday, September 19, 2014.  Born in Beaufort, South Carolina, he was the son of M.P. and Dot Martin.  Marty was a dedicated Human Resource Manager at Isola Group in Ridgeway, SC.  He had a love of learning and held a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the University of South Carolina, a Master of Science in Management from Southern Wesleyan University, and a Master of Education from the University of Arkansas.  Marty was a devoted and faithful member of the Church of the Good Shepherd (Episcopal) where he served as the Director of Christian Education.  He was proud of his sponsored Compassion International child, Estefany.  He loved his family, his music, his books, his church, and his dog Lucy.  Marty felt that his two most notable achievements were his marriage of 37 years to Donna and his children Rachel, Christopher, and Bethany.  He believed his life was, “always blessed by love.”

Marty was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Bethany, and his father, M.P. Martin.  Survivors include his wife, Donna, of West Columbia; daughter Rachel Betcher (Ethan), of West Columbia; son, Christopher Martin, of West Columbia; his mother, Dot, of Columbia; his sister, Denise Hurley, of Columbia; his brother, Russell Martin, of Columbia; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Special thanks to our family, church family, and friends for their loving support.
