In Memoriam of Jim Hollar

Jim Holler was born on February 3, 1941 in Correctionville, Iowa to Raymond and Ruth (Anglum) Holler. He passed away on October 15, 2014 at Banner Hospice in Sun City West, Arizona, after a battle with congestive heart failure.

Jim attended school in Washta, IA and Longfellow District #3, WI, and graduated from Barron Sr. High School, Baron, WI, in 1958. After high school graduation he served in the US Navy from August 14,1958 to April 13,1962. Much of that time he was assigned to the aircraft carrier Kitty Hawk and various bases in the Philippines.

In 1961 he married Corazon Diaz of the Philippines, and in 1980 married Janet Sleiter. Both marriages ended in divorce. In 2011 he married Phyllis Tuchscher in Arizona.

He had a varied career that ranged from farming, to driving a Semi-trailer truck and cross-country busses, to managing a home improvement store, coaching driving, selling Agricultural Buildings and seeds, and playing in a band.

Jim served the American legion faithfully for over 30 years, having been the American Legion Post 54 Marshfield, WI Past Commander; Wisconsin  American Legion 8th District Past Commander, and Wisconsin American Legion Past Department Vice Commander; he was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Marshfield Masonic Lodge #224. He was a member of the Scottish Rite Consistory of Eau Claire, WI; of Zor Shrine of Madison, WI; District Commander of Grand Voiture de Wisconsin for 8 years; the Grand Chef de Gar for 40et8; was a member of  The Kitty  Hawk Association; the Vietnam Veterans of America; the Army, Navy & Air Force Veterans in Canada; and has served on the Wood County ,WI Board of Supervisors.

In May of 2009 he moved to Arizona and became involved in and served on various boards, was active in several clubs, and was a member of Shepherd of the Hills Methodist Church. During his 5½ years in the southwest he developed new hobbies and interests including ballroom and country dancing, hiking the National Parks, geocaching, and enjoyed attending bluegrass festivals.

His parents and numerous aunts and uncles predecease him.  Surviving, and greatly missing him, is his loving wife Phyllis Holler, and his children Shirley (Scott) Schoen, Jack (Evette) Holler, Susan Twomey (Mark Jensen), and Nick Holler. He left behind twenty grandchildren, four great grandchildren, one aunt, and many cousins. He was well loved and will be mourned by many, many friends.
