to the family

I had the honor of taking care for your father, who i caled Dad too. I took on the job nit realizing how not just Chuck would touch me, but his hole family. Dad had the compassion and love for not just his family but fot life in general. We had many talks of his accomplishments and thr foundation was one of his proudest moments. He always held his wife as the most important thing in the world to him next to hs family and lucy. I was wishing i had met him befre he got sick but as i lesson and read about him he didnt change much even on his worse days he would still rry tobestrong for his family even though he was the one needing it. He use to tell me that i was an angel, but truely his family became mine....

My sincere thanks....

Chuck,

We never met, but sort of. I had the pleasure to know of you through your daughter, Sandy. We previously worked together and she spoke of you often and fondly. I too am a father and appreciate when you have children, your heart walks around outside your body forever. Your children are a compilation and reflection of you and Carolyn. As you traversed your life and secretly wondered if you ever made a difference, please understand, you did. They are your heart walking around outside your body.

I wished to share this passage from Channing. Channing was a 19th century Transcendentalist and his piece is entitled “My Symphony”…one of my favorites. Understatedness is one of my most respected virtues.

To live content with small means; to seek elegance rather than luxury, refinement rather than fashion; to be worthy not respectable, wealthy not rich; to listen to stars, birds, babes, and sages with an open heart; to study hard; to think quietly, act frankly, talk gently, await occasions, hurry never; to let the spiritual, unbidden and unconscious grow up through the common--this is my symphony. ~ William Henry Channing

Cecile and I send our blessings to the Hoffman family.

Chuck's passion, wit and sense of humor made him special but what made him unique were his persistence, honesty and loyalty. It has been a privilege to support the Stroke Awareness Foundation which he helped found in 2002. Although I will miss his feistiness and friendship I am proud to continue his legacy and support the Stroke Awareness Foundation which continues to grow and save more lives every day.
