I remember Mrs. Lazich very fondly. I was best friends with her youngest daughter Julia in grade school in the 70s in Michigan. I still remember walking home with Julia arm in arm from school. Julia and I would go to each other's houses on weekends to play. Coming in the door of her home, I have a very vivid memory of saying hello to Mrs. Lazich. There would be lots of activity with friends of Nils, Peter, and Lis Anne. Mrs. Lazich was exuberant, engaging with all of us, hugging us when something was funny. Sometimes Mr. Lazich would enter the room and she would call him elskling. I thought that was so lovely. After visiting with us, and making sure we were all fed, she was off, always busy and active. I'm sure she is in heaven now with her Danish family reminiscing, smiling and laughing.

My dear Julia, Bruce and I send our condolences to you, your Dad and brothers and sister. When I got your message about your mom passing all I could think of was the world had lost a beautiful person inside and out. When I meet your mom for the first time and got to see what a wonderful person she was, I also know how lucky I was because her daughter was my friend and she was just as wonderful as her mom. Our prayers are with you all. Bye Lis rest in peace

Julia, the first we got to "know" your mom was coming by your desk when you happened to be on the phone with her and you asking us to say "hi" to her over the phone. Then she and your dad moved here to California and meeting her in person was such a pleasure. She was a wonderful human being! I remember her telling me about the time she was put on a train in Denmark when she was just perhaps 4 years old to go stay with relatives that would pick her up at the train station. She said that the conductors would "watch over her" and make sure she was safely picked up. I thought that was remarkable for such a young child at the time and definitely a different world back then. Also, when she first came to the United States on her own; she was so brave. She always had the "infectious smile" as others have brought up and showed the care for how you were doing, versus herself. She was so happy about life and her family was of utmost importance to her, especially your father. Her love for him was unending. We will miss her dearly. Much love to your dad, Paul, Peter, Lis Ann and Nils. Doris and Anthony

Some of my greatest memories are with my Mormor. It's still surreal that she is physically gone. She will always hold a special place in my heart and the lessons she taught me I will carry with me forever. I've been lucky enough to always live close to her & share stories with her and eat (or at least try!) all the delicious food she has made. She had quite the reputation and I cherish how many people love her and the amount of lives she touched. May Mormor's memories always live on and her smile shine brightly through us all. RIP Mormor - I love & miss you.

Julia, so kind and loving, your Dad, Paul and all your beautiful family....you are in our thoughts, hearts, and prayers. I hold your Mom's beautiful, smile, laughter and kindness in memory and heart. I think of the days we worked in RWC and went to your house for lunch. Your Mom awaited us with her smile and a delicious lunch she prepared! I just wanted to stay with her and not go back...she made it a comforting place, away from the challenges of the day. I looked so forward to it and it meant so much to me. I will keep Lis in heart and mind and her strong spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know her. Love to you all. Mary

To one of the most beautiful people in my life

This is the story of a teenage girl who was feeling a little lost. At the time she did not realize that most teenage girls feel a little lost - she thought she was unique. This girl made a friend at school and soon found herself with a second family surrounded by love, welcoming, and a down-to-earth Danish outlook on life.

This is of course a story about me, Julia and Lis (aka mom, and to my kids, mor mor). For forty years, Lis, I have been blessed to have you as a part of my life. You welcomed me into your home in Wallingford, in California, and in New Hampshire. (How cool is that - after moving around a bit we ended up living an hour away from each other!) You made me feel like part of the family when we went to Seattle for Nils' wedding. You included me in family celebrations in New Hampshire. And all that time I could talk to you about sex, drugs, OR rock and roll!

We all may wonder why we come here to this life. I know for certain that your purpose was to be an angel who could reach out and save a lost teenage girl, and to be a warm and welcoming friend to so many. Thank you for being a part of my life. I love you!

Sweet Sweet Spirit!

My memories of "Mom" (as I affectionarely called her) Lis Lazich were soft & warm hands, a sweet spirit and an infectious smile. I see where Dr. Angel gets it from. She was a loving soul who had nothing but a heartful of love for family and friends. She will be warmly remembered and sorely missed!

Rest in Peace sweet Viking!
