In Memoriam

Patricia Aguilar-Underwood passed away peacefully during the early morning hours of September 1, 2015, after a brief but valiant battle with liver cancer.  Patricia was born in El Paso, Texas on November 1st, 1958, to Alberto and Antonia Aguilar. She grew up in Buena Park, California and graduated from Savanna High School in Anaheim.  She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Cal State Fullerton, and worked as an elementary school teacher for over 20 years in the LA Unified and South Whittier school districts.

Pat will be remembered by her many friends, co-workers and students as a very caring and devoted teacher who inspired everyone whose life she touched. Although she had no children of her own, Pat treated all her students as they were her very own, with equal amounts of love, encouragement, discipline and, above all, always instilling a love of learning.

Pat was a devoted Christian who will be remembered for her varied interests and hobbies, including her love of classic old movies, cooking and entertaining, competitive table-setting, and crafting.  She loved her dogs, Celebrating Christmas and Halloween, silver and turquoise jewelry, the Mojave Desert and all things Native American. Patsy will also be remembered for her many collections including; antique dishes and antique furniture, “I Love Lucy” and “The Wizard of Oz” memorabilia, Barbie dolls, rocks and geodes, Irish collectibles, and many, many other collectables.  Pat loved camping and being in the desert, and was an active member of the Fullerton “Searchers” Rock and Gem society for many years.

Patricia is survived by her devoted husband of 32 years, Gene Underwood, and her sisters Rosa Harnetiaux and Anna Aguilar-Morff. She is also survived by her loving nieces, nephews, cousins, her wonderful family in-law, her cherished life-long friends, and of course, the many students who were fortunate enough to have Pat as their teacher.  We will miss Patricia’s love, her love of life, her smile, her sense of humor and especially her laughter.

A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, October 2, 2015 4:00 PM @ Placentia Round Table Women’s Club, 901 Bradford Ave. Placentia, CA
