 Margaret George Obituary

Margaret (Steffa) George, 91, daughter of Thomas and Constantine Steffa, passed away quietly at 1:00 pm on January 27 with her son James by her side at Berks Heim in Leesport where she was a resident since last September.
Predeceased by a brother, George Steffa, and a sister, Ann Steffa, Margaret is survived by a husband, Theodore George, at Praxis in Easton, a son, James George, of Reading, a daughter, Michele (wife of Daniel) Roland, of Sinking Spring and three grandchildren, Daniel Roland of Flying Hills, Thomas Roland of Philadelphia and Rachel (wife of John) Radcliffe of Philadelphia.
Born and raised in Philadelphia, Margaret attended the Helen Fleischer School of Design after high school, studying dress-making, fashion and design. For many years she utilized her clothing-making talents and natural artistic flair in both her professional life, as a Bridal Consultant and seamstress at The Primrose Shop in Reading, PA and in her personal life, where she fashioned countless articles of clothing for family and friends.
In addition to her artistry with a sewing machine, Margaret’s expertise in the kitchen was legendary among those who knew her. She retained her love of cooking and baking throughout her life. Many of her dishes elicited the same response from those who ate them: “You make the best (fill in the blank) I’ve ever tasted!” And she did.
After retiring, she and her friend, the late Selma Palmer, got to travel all over the country as tour guides on White Star bus trips with their Olivet’s Senior Citizens group.
Margaret, who always put others before herself, will be remembered for her big heart, limitless generosity, warmth, compassion and sense of humor. She had great faith in her religion and faced her final years secure in her deep-rooted Christian beliefs. There will be private services at the convenience of the family. Please do not send flowers.
