John Lupi, Sr.'s Story

John S. Lupi Sr., 61, a lifelong resident of Lower Chichester died Monday, August 8, 2011 at his home, surrounded by his family. John was born in Chester, Pennsylvania and has lived most of his life in Linwood. A 1967 graduate of Saint James, John worked as a yardmaster for the Norfolk Southern Railroad in Wilmington, Delaware for the last 12 years. Prior to that, he worked as a power generation engineer for 24 years for the Westinghouse Corporation. Mr. Lupi was a part-time police officer for Lower Chichester Police Department from 1974 until 1979. He also served as commissioner of Lower Chichester from 1990 until 1994 and was also on the Chichester School Board from 1994 until 1997. A coach for the Chichester Crusaders Football and Chichester Baseball Leagues, John also ran the Chichester High School Football Association from 1993 until 1998. He was pre deceased by his father Louis Lupi who died in 1997. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Gloria Adams Lupi; his children, Tiffanie and her husband Jim Headley of Ridley Park, and John Lupi Jr. and his wife Erin of Glenolden; his grandchildren, Isabella and Domenic Lupi, Aidan and Aaron Headley, Kelsey and Kyle Strazdus and Amanda and Kenny Massey; his mother, Stephanie Bomurski Lupi of Boothwyn; also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral mass 1030 am Friday at St. John Fisher Catholic Church, 4225 Chichester Avenue, Boothwyn, PA 19061, where friends may call Thursday evening 6 to 8pm and after 9am Friday. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Brain Aneurysm Foundation, 269 Hanover Street, Bldg. 3, Hanover, Massachusetts, 02339 would be appreciated by the family.
