William C Martuge ~ We are so grateful to have had you in our lives!

William C. Martuge, 69, passed on September 10, 2015 at Duke University Hospital, Durham North Carolina. He suffered from Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF). His death was a result of complications following a successful bilateral lung transplant on February 14, 2015. At the time of his death, Bill’s wife Linda was by his side.

Bill was born on April 14, 1946 in Brooklyn NY to Joseph and Christina Martuge.

Bill graduated from high school and immediately joined the working world at AT&T in Manhattan, NY. Shortly thereafter in 1965 he served in the U.S. Army.

He returned to AT&T and continued a stellar career there for 35 years. Bill was a loyal employee to AT&T and those who worked with and for him loved him.  Bill held many diverse positions throughout his career with AT&T. He loved his work and was a breath of fresh air to the bureaucracy of corporate life. During his career, he started deliveing mail as a "runner". His career was truly on of climbing hte corporate ladder. To name a few; Bill managed local 4E switch offices from the ground up, held the position of District Manger Human Resources, as well as District Manager for the Mesa, Arizona Call Center operation.

Bill grew up in Brooklyn, New York. He lived in Long Island New York, Lyle, Illinois; Hillsborough and Basking Ridge New Jersey. For the past 19 years he resided in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Bill enjoyed jazz, country and the “classics” in music and was up on all the newest technology as it came out. He enjoyed hiking the Phoenix Mountains and loved each day in “paradise”.

His three grandchildren were the loves of his life, he lit up whenever he talked about them, to them or saw them. They are amazing beings and held a very special place in his heart like no other.

Bill was connected to the spiritual communities of Phoenix and Scottsdale and made life long friendships there. He was grateful for all those who walked with him on his spiritual journey.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Scherer Martuge; daughters Donna Jeanne Martuge and Laura Jeanne Martuge McKenna; son-in-law Mike McKenna; grandchildren, Gianna Rose Martuge, Michael Philip McKenna and Mila Rose McKenna; brother John Martuge and sister-in-law Delia Martuge, last but not least his 4 legged furry “son” Axel.  Bill loved his family and we will miss him dearly.

Bill was cremated on September 12, 2015. A memorial and celebration of his life was held at 2:00 pm on October 10, 2015 in Scottsdale, Arizona at the Scottsdale Center for Spiritual Living: 8600 E. Anderson Drive, Scottsdale AZ 84255.
