Marie M. Hoey

Marie M. Barr Hoey, age 95, a resident of Swarthmore since 1999 and formerly longtime resident of Upper Darby, PA passed away April 13, 2017 at Fitzgerald Mercy Hospital in Darby. Mrs. Hoey was born in Philadelphia and raised in Bryn Mawr, she was a 1940 graduate of West Catholic High School for Girls. She worked as a secretary at the PA Railroad after until 1949. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Springfield, PA, Catholic Daughters of the Americas and Past President of the Monsignor Bonners Mothers Club, also a longtime volunteer at Fitzgeral Mercy Hospital. She is predeceased by her husband Michael W. Hoey,  son Gene Hoey, brothers Eugene, Joseph and Edward Barr, sisters Genevieve Casey and Ann Donahue. Survivors; daughters Marie M. Hoey, Helen T. (Don) Eife, sons Michael W. and Joseph F. Hoey and daughter in law Lisa Hoey. Also survived by 5 grandchildren Marie and Ryan Eife, Joey, Jessica and Michael Hoey.Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing Wednesday after 9:00 am in the church of St. Francis of Assisi Saxer Ave. and Rolling Rd. Springfield, PA 19064. Followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 am. Int. Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to Little Flower Manor 1201 Springfield, Rd. Darby, PA 19023 would be preferred.
