Lucy Migliaccio's Story

Mrs. Lucy M. Sasso Migliaccio,age 93, of Phila., died January 23, 2012 at Mountainview Nursing Center in Coal Township, Pa. Mrs. Migliaccio was born and raised in Philadelphia and has been a lifelong resident. She was a 1937 graduate of John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls High School. Mrs. Migliaccio was a member of St. Cyril of Alexandria Church and was formerly a member of St. Carthage Parish, and St. Mary Magdalene De Pazzi Parish. She coached women's basketball in her South Philadelphia neighborhood. She was also formerly very active with the De LaSalle Knights of Columbus Council 590 Ladies Auxillary. Lucy's Italian meals delighted family and guests and she was known for feeding large numbers of guests on short notice. In the late 1970's and early 1980's she would have the nuns from Saint Carthage Convent over for Christmas Eve dinner. Mrs. Migliaccio enjoyed watching football and college basketball on TV. She liked to see Duke win at basketball and always liked Joe Paterno of Penn State football. She is daughter of the late Louis and Rebecca Norcia Sasso. She is predeceased by her husband Michael J. Migliaccio who died in 2003. She is sister of the late Carmella , Erminia, John, William, Joseph and Pasquale Sasso. She is survived by her son Michael C. Migliaccio and his wife Eileen. Funeral Mass Saturday January 28, 2012 at 10 am in the Church of St. Cyril of Alexandria 153 Penn Blvd. East Lansdowne, Pa. 19050. Viewing will be after 9:00 am in the Church. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery Yeadon, Pa. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to the above mentioned church would be preferred.
