Stay Focused

In my early days at Mobil, when various challenges hit, Mae would come by and counsel me that "this too shall pass". She taught me to stay focused and to not get wrapped up in everything else going on. I have in turn shared this with many other less experienced colleagues (and my kids) over the years. Mae will be missed.

I am so sad at learning of Mae's death. It is a great loss --
the loss of a role model, a mentor, a creative scientist, and supportive friend.

Mae was an inspiration to me. As a scientist and inventor she was second to none. She was incredibly accomplished and very humbled about it. In 1993 Mae won the Association for Women in Science (AWIS) Philadelphia Chapter Mentoring Award. She was the first woman from industry to receive this award from the AWIS Philadelphia Chapter. This award was first given in 1990, it was created to recognize those who had promoted the entry and advancement of women in science. After her retirement I stayed in touch with her and we have been corresponding for the last 20+ years. I will miss her lovely cards and notes. Mae, your memory will always be a blessing to all of us who were fortunate to work with you and know you. May you rest in peace.

I had the great honor of working with Mae in the mid 1980's. She was a pioneer in the field of materials synthesis and freely offered her advice and knowledge to all asking for her help - which I did often. She was a friend and mentor, and she will be sorely missed.

Mae was a pioneer!

Mae was an amazing woman, a trailblazer, one of the most prolific inventors in our time. She was a role model, an inspiration to the women who came after, and a strong supporter. She was kind, funny, and will be missed.

Mae Rubin - A leader, A role model

When I first met Mae I was terrified. She knew so much. I knew nothing. I even made a mistake with one of her prized materials. No one needs to say what Mae accomplished. What may not be known is how she mentored us, then youngsters, and helped prepare us for the future. She was TOUGH! I wish there was another Mae.

We worked together for several years in the Mobil's Catalyst Section and I always admired Mae's very unassuming nature and how she would be able to devise synthesis methods to make zeolites of crystal size, shape, acidity level, structure, and morphology. She was an excellent scientist and to me she performed synthesis magic.

Mae, a nice warm friend and a great chemist

Mae was warm person, but it did always show on surface because she was reserved and private. Mae sent me beautiful note when my daughter was born, and we exchanged cards through the years. She was witty and caring in those letters.
Mae was one the best zeolite synthesis person in Mobil. She used her intuition to discover and invent many many important zeolites and contributed to the success of Mobil.
Mae, we respect and admire you. In peace. Love, Hye Kyung Timken

Fun lunch reunions

About once a month, we gathered on a Tuesday for lunch. We would tell of our latest adventures and activities. It was always a pleasure to see Mae and hear what she was up to. She liked dessert... if she could share it with someone!
We will all miss her dearly. Bill B
