Mary-Wise Rixey Jenkins 1935 - 2020

Mary-Wise Rixey Jenkins, born in Chattanooga, TN on February 17, 1935, and formerly from Arlington, VA, Villanova and Paoli, PA, left this earthly life July 29, 2020.

Devoted wife of the late, Martin Edward Jenkins I, adoring mother to Elizabeth Rixey Jenkins Solomon, mother-in-law to Michael Solomon, stepmother to, Jeffrey E Jenkins, Martin E Jenkins II, Douglas E Jenkins, loving grandmother to nine, and sweet friend to so many who knew her.
Mary-Wise Rixey Jenkins, aka, “Mary-Wise”, or, “Rixey”, as many would call her, graduated from Washington-Lee High School in Arlington, VA and went on to study English and Art History at The University of South Carolina. After college, Rixey traveled the world working for a recruiting firm. She then married in 1964. Rixey was loved by all who had the pleasure of meeting her, and she never met a stranger.

Rixey was devoted to her Church, Saint David’s Episcopal, for over 50 years. Her love for fine art and literature was abundant throughout her home, and she loved being surrounded by it. You would also be hard pressed not to find a portrait or painting that Rixey painted, hanging in her home. Music was very important to Rixey. For several decades, she spent time taking in the sounds of the Philadelphia Orchestra in downtown Philadelphia. Her choice in music was very  diverse. From classic rock to jazz, gospel, hymns and classical music, she loved it all.

Rixey lived a rich life, adored her family and valued her friendships. She would not want us to mourn her death for long, rather celebrate the wonderful life she had, and cherish & love one another.

There will be a service at Saint David’s Episcopal Church in Wayne, PA, TBD. Unfortunately due to Covid, the allowed number of attendees has been reached. However, the service will be live streamed and available for anyone interested @
