Edward Kearney

On December 11, 2020, Ed Kearney passed away at the age of 68 after several years of living courageously with ALS. He was born in New Jersey on July 7, 1952 to Edward and Alice (McHugh) Kearney. He attended JFK High School where he ran cross country and played basketball, and later attended Seton Hall University where he obtained a degree in business. He worked for many years in accounting in the Philadelphia/New Jersey area, eventually moving to Virginia and then finally, Myrtle Beach, SC. His love for basketball continued through his life, as well as fishing, camping, and a general appreciation for the outdoors. Along the way he picked up coin-collecting, painting, and became an expert reviewer of Netflix programs. Ed is survived by his two children, Stephanie (Nathan) Overholt and Peter (Jamie) Kearney, his sister Susan Stoutzenberger, his niece Kate FitzGerald and nephews Pat FitzGerald and Tim Stoutzenberger, his four grandchildren - Gabriella, Jordan, Tessa, and Lucas, and his former spouse, Pat Duva. Per Ed’s wishes, in lieu of a public service, his ashes will remain with his sister and children who will memorialize him privately.
