A big man with a big heart, Russ was always himself, an enviable gift. You would spot him when he entered a room, or, if he chose, he would blend into the background and quietly enjoy the show. Russ loved to laugh, eat, travel, play cards, read history/politics/science, listen to people’s stories, and “follow the ponies,” especially at the Saratoga Meet each summer, a place he absolutely loved. He recalled seeing his wife, Judy, in her cradle, and was a constant in her life from then on. His presence will be sorely missed by those whose days he brightened.
Anyone so inclined to make a donation in Russ’ name should choose from either the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation or Doctors Without Borders (Medecins Sans Frontieres), a favorite charity of his.
