Charles Joseph Doyle 1953 - 2021

Charles Joseph Doyle (Chuck), age 67, passed away Tuesday, February 23rd 2021 in Media, PA.  He passed away from a heart attack, after beating colon cancer in 2020.  He was born on Thanksgiving Day, November 26th, 1953 to John and Marie Doyle of Woodlyn, PA.  His mother later spoke of him being the only turkey she ended up having that Thanksgiving. He went to St. James Catholic High School; he served as an altar boy growing up in the Catholic Church, and he graduated from Peirce Junior College with an Associates in Computer Science in 1973.  Chuck worked over 28 years for Conrail in Philadelphia in computer programming and project management, where he met his wife of over 21 years, Tonya Deveney.  They had three children together, sons Ash and Travis, and daughter Preva.  He earned his Masters in Business Administration from St. Joseph’s University in 2001.  He was clean in Alcoholics Anonymous since April 2007, and he liked helping others in the program.  Chuck was a beloved son, cherished brother to his siblings Jack, Karen, and Rie (deceased), dedicated father, and a gregarious and sometimes larger-than-life friend to quite a few people over the years.  He enjoyed golf, having learned from his father and brother Jack, and taught golf and other sports to his children; he coached soccer and baseball on teams with his sons, and basketball with his daughter.  He also enjoyed playing poker and pinocle with friends and family, and played pinocle competitively starting on a team with his father.

 

He is survived by his daughter Preva, sons Travis and Ash, his brother Jack and sister-in-law Evelyn Doyle, his niece Anne, his nephew Scott and his wife April, his sister Karen and brother-in-law Frank Chisholm, his nephew Frankie, his niece Tara, her husband Dr. Steve Cozamanis and their children.  He was preceded in passing by his sister Rie Berbee, and his nephew John Doyle.
