Jeanne's Story

Jeanne Louise Kimmins was born December 18, 1927 in Ferndale, MI to parents Lee Merrell Kimmins and Evelyn Eaton Kimmins and was the eldest of 5 children. She married Earl John Milne Sr. on January 27, 1951 in Detroit, MI. They had 4 children, Sheila, Earl II (Butch), McCort (Cort), and Adam (Amo).

In 1973 the family moved to Seminole, FL and later to Largo, FL. Jeanne was employed by Housekeeping  at Suncoast Hospital for 22 years until her retirement in 1995. After that she was a certified caregiver and aide for many years. Her husband passed away in 1980 at the age of 53, and her son Adam followed in 2002 at the age of 40.

Over the years, Jeanne was an avid Bingo player and loved jigsaw and word puzzles. She crocheted hundreds of beautiful afghans, most of which she gave to family, friends, and charities. She was an expert pie and special occasion cake maker. She also loved Cribbage, card games, rummage sales, and helping others in any way possible. Her infectious smile, vivid blue eyes, big hugs, and favorite phrases "Super Duper", "You Betcha", and "Okey Dokey" endeared her to everyone she met. She was famous for her Easter egg hunts and holiday games, complete with prizes. She was a Red Hat Lady and was known to occasionally ride on the back of a Harley motorcycle or in a fire truck with her sons. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her great grandchildren and watching them grow.

She is survived by 2 brothers, George Kimmins (Tampa, FL), and Jack (Babs) Kimmins (Pottsboro, TX); daughter Sheila (Terry) Bitterling (Ocala, FL), sons Earl "Butch" (Randi) Milne (Largo, FL) and McCort (Andrea) Milne (Pinellas Park, FL); 6 grandchildren Christopher, Dawn, Michael, Cassie, and Andrew (Samantha) Milne, and Rachel (Adam) Wolf; and 3 great grandchildren Stacia and Aiven Milne and Hailee Wolf; several nieces and nephews and a multitude of friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday June 1, 2013 from 12-3PM in Terrace Park of Five Towns (8141 54th Ave N in St. Petersburg, just off Park St),  at the Oleander Lake Center - stay on the main road straight through Terrace Park.
