Malcolm (Mac) Hosea Lanier

72, of Zolfo Springs, FL, has gone to rest high on the mountain on September 11, 2021.

Born in Wauchula, FL, on November 12, 1948, Mac was the youngest of four children to Albert and Rena Lanier of Zolfo Springs. He was always fishing or camping on Peace River or down on Charlie Creek as a young kid. Mac moved to Bradenton, FL where he started his career as a mason. In 1968 he welcomed his first son Malcolm and three years later welcomed his second son Stephen. Mac moved to DeFuniak Springs, FL in 1987, and continued his lifelong career as a master mason, with great pride and satisfaction in building custom homes. In 1992, he married his beloved wife, Stacey, living in DeFuniak Springs, making a wonderful life for themselves until Stacey’s passing in 2010. After moving back to Zolfo Springs in 2012, Mac’s famous quote was, “I’m living the happiest life right now, just me my dog cooper and the cows, on Charlie Creek”. Mac always enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with family and friends as much as he could.

Mac is survived by sons Malcolm H. Lanier, II and Stephen D. Lanier (Victoria), all of Newnan, GA; five grandchildren Alexander, Joshua, Jacob, Olivia, and Evelyn; sisters Lura Poulin of Palmetto, FL and Linda Hendry of Parrish, FL; also many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He is preceded in death by wife Stacey Lanier of DeFuniak Springs, parents Albert and Rena Lanier of Zolfo Springs, and sister Elna Raymond of Metairie, LA.

A celebration of life will be held at Mill Creek Baptist Church, 12713 Upper Manatee River Rd., Bradenton, FL 34212, on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at 11 a.m., officiated by Rev. J.D. Guin. There will be a potluck luncheon following, please bring a covered dish to share your memories of Mac. As Mac would say, “If you wanna sit, bring a chair and if you wanna eat, bring a dish”.
