Frances Ligget 1954 - 2021

Frances Cramp Ligget passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 17, 2021, just days after her 67th birthday, in Malvern, PA.  Frances (Francie/Franny) was the second child born to Amy Jane Cramp and R. William Ligget.  Just 13 months younger than her brother, Bob, she was born on October 12, 1954, in Bryn Mawr, PA, and grew up in Rosemont.  Francie loved family vacations to the Shore, where she fell in love with the sand and waves and developed a life-long love of the ocean.

After graduation from Radnor High School, Francie attended the University of Maryland, Baltimore, and Virginia Tech, where she graduated with a degree in International Relations.  She began working in New York City, later moving to Broomfield, CO, and Atlanta, GA, before settling in Virginia Beach, VA, where she could live next to her beloved ocean. She returned to Philadelphia just a few months prior to her death.

Francie had a passion for the sun, the beach, politics, and people.  She had strong political opinions and enjoyed discussing them with her brother. She had a quick wit and an infectious laugh, making her the life of the party and fun to be around. She truly enjoyed meeting new people, making friends wherever she went.  Birthdays were important to Francie, and she never forgot to send a card and make a phone call to family and friends, often singing a personal rendition of "Happy Birthday," or leaving hysterical voicemail birthday wishes.  She was a strong believer in the power of God's love and in spreading messages of peace.

Francie is survived by her brother, Bob (Joy), UT; niece Amy (Eric) Anderson, CA; niece Sarah (Erwin) Wright, UT; nephew Robert Ligget (UT); and five grand-nieces and nephews, whom she adored.  A small memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 23, at 2:00 p.m., at the West Laurel Hill Cemetery in Bala Cynwyd, where Francie's remains will be interred in the Cramp family vault.

The family wishes to thank all the doctors, nurses, and staff at Paoli Hospital, as well as Michelle McRae, hospice coordinator, who tenderly cared for her during her last days.  A special thanks to Francie's life-long friends, Susan Marrra, Martyha McKinney Parker, and Sam Griffin, for their friendship and care.
