Remembering Hazel

Hazel Grace Abbott was born December 21, 1922 in McIntosh, South Dakota, to Ray and Clara Snodgrass. She attended school in McIntosh and in 1941 upon graduating from High School she moved to Tacoma, WA with her best friend Mazel.

She worked at Ft Lewis Army Base where she was much loved until 1947. Then she met and married a sailor named Jack Abbott. During their marriage they lived in Ohio, Washington and Alaska. She worked for the Alaska Empire Newspaper as a bookkeeper until she retired in 1970. Hazel was an active member of her church where she served in a number of capacities from Song Leader to Sunday School Superintendent to Children's Church Leader. She was also a member of the local Christian Women's Organization. Hazel was a mighty women of God.

Hazel endured the passing of her husband Jack of 37 years in 1984. Her fathers passing in 1958, her mother in 1966, her brother Lyle Snodgrass in 1991 and her sister Evelyn Buel in 2004.

Hazel went to be with her Heavenly Father Sunday March 2, 2014 at the Ideal Adult Family Home in Bellevue, WA where she was loved by all who cared for her. Surviving family members include her daughter Sharon Noel of Issaquah, WA. Sharon's two sons Bob of Covington and Don of Seattle, WA. Her son Richard Abbott of Juneau, AK. Richard's sons Jacob and Nathaniel and daughter Katrina McGee of Caldwell, ID plus 10 Great Grandchildren. Hazel blessed all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Love Note To Mom

So many memories mom!!! You were the BEST MOM any one could have. To know you was to love you and I did and so many other people did as well. Your strength and your Love for Your God was such an example to me. You were not just my mom but my Best Friend!!!! I will forever remember our last good time together singing old hymns and laughing becasue we couldn't remember all the words and praying that God would come take you soon. Well you are HOME now mama with daddy and grandma and grandpa. Hugs and Kisses to everyone!! I miss you already.
