January 5, 1934 - July 5, 2014
Ann Potter passed away suddenly July 5, 2014 with her son and daughter by her side. She was born in Tulsa, OK and moved to the Los Angeles area with her parents at age 7. Ann graduated from Huntington Park High School in 1952 and graduated with honors with a BS in Nursing from UCLA in 1956. She worked in the pediatric dept at UCLA Medical Center before moving to the SF bay area in 1958. She worked as a public health nurse in SF where she met and married her husband Stan. They were married 51 yrs before his death in 2012. After starting a family, Ann and Stan moved to Concord, CA in 1964 and stayed there for the remainder of their lives. While living in Concord, and after raising their two children, Ann went to work as a school nurse for 27 years for MDUSD before retiring in 1996.
Ann was an extraordinary wife, mom, grandma, and friend, and loved spending time with family and friends. Over the years, she has touched many lives with her caring, kindness and compassion. She was an avid world traveler, talented artist, and animal lover. She enjoyed gardening, being active in the DAR, Concord Art Association and CalRTA. More recently, she enjoyed going on day trips with Concord Senior Center, going to lunch and a movie or dinner and a play with her dear friends.
Ann is survived by her son Dave Potter (Joni) and daughter Susie Potter (Scott), grandchildren Amanda, Rachel and Hailey Potter, her dogs Rocky and Buddy and many wonderful lifelong friends.
