My big brother Michael

When I was about five years old in 1964, Mike had already left home to join the Marines. We were living in Idaho Falls, and I remember writing letters to him that mom would send overseas along with her homemade cookies. Later on, when we lived in Spokane, I remember Mike coming home to visit us – he was a hippie at that time and living in California. I was totally fascinated by him!

Through the years, I realized how special my brother was to me. Mike was sophisticated and generous! Whenever Mike would come home to visit, he would share stories of his travels and I was so impressed by his knowledge of the world. He traveled to faraway places and had some pretty interesting experiences. Mike always brought home presents including Joy perfume, an ivory bracelet from Africa and a turquoise necklace. I remember him giving Jerry albums from two brand new bands – Fleetwood Mac and Pink Floyd. We were the only kids in Spokane with these albums… in fact, no one in Spokane had ever heard of these bands before! Mike a wonderful way of making us feel very special.

What I loved most about Michael was his love for his family… not just his siblings and his wife and kids… but all of the family. He was always asking about his nieces and nephews. Every time we talked, he would ask about my husband Ron and son Nathan. Mike was genuinely interested in each person.

When dad (George) passed away, I remember Mike and Jerry along with our nephews Matt, Nathan, Zach and Dillon watching a video at my house. It was of Grandpa George singing “I’ve Got a Lovely Bunch of Coconuts.” Mike lead the singing during the chorus as this group of grown men sang the silly song with tears in their eyes. I will always cherish the memory!

I’m so happy to know that Michael is in heaven now, reunited with mom and dad, and in the presence of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

You were loved, Michael

I remember how much Mike love to work on the Victor Lustig farm when he was in his youth. I lived a mile away and was a young female cousin that loved to see Mike and his big smiles. He was such a hard worker and so fun to be around. We will all miss him. Grandma Mary Lustig is looking down upon him now saying "aren't you glad I had you pray?"

With deep sympathy to all the Reeve family,
Judy (Lustig) Renshaw and husband Allen
