Memory Book

Almut was my creative writing teacher, my mentor, my friend. Her holiday tree was lit by wax candles. She herself was a light. I'm saddened to know she's left so early, and will miss her.
Bless her kind and curmudgeonly heart, condolences to her family.

My memories of Almut go back to PA 1968 where we met at a New Years gathering of Lycoming College faculty. In 1970 we were off to Cheney and EWU. Both my husband, Don, and I were close to Jim and Almut. We thought her one of the brightest people we knew. She was also funny and kind and generous and didn't suffer fools gladly. Almut always made me see things in a different light, and she always made me laugh even when I didn't think I felt like laughing. I'm so sorry she is gone. Carolyn Wall

It's terrible to know Almut has passed on. I have many fond memories of her. Almut was so smart and witty and such a generous person. She brought many gifts to our life and I will never forget her.

It's hard to believe she's gone. The world is a bit darker without that wonderful, sharp, ironic wit, that delightful smile. Ed Reynolds
