John R. Brown, also known as Doc, Jackie, Brownie, Dad and his personal favorite, Pop-Pop, died peacefully at the age of 64 on August 20, 2016 at Manor Care Nursing Home, Darby.

Doc was a very active member of the Delaware County Ancient Order of Hibernians (AOH) Black Jack Kehoe Division 4 where he also served as treasurer.  He was born on August 20, 1952 to his parents John and Marion Miller Brown.  He was a 1971 graduate of Darby Township High School.  Shortly after graduation he began working for Conrail.  Doc continued to work as a “rail roader” for over 40 years.  He then worked for Septa and eventually retired from Amtrak after his 60th birthday.  Following his retirement he enjoyed relaxing in the Poconos, fishing and playing horseshoes. One of his favorite things to do was spend time with his two grandsons.  Doc will always be remembered by his family and friends as a tough nut who always had your back, with a thick head and HUGE heart that made him a kind, generous and giving person to all.  Most importantly he was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
