Joseph Corvi's Story

Joseph J. Corvi, 92, an author and iron worker, died Aug. 29, 2009. He was a life-long resident of South Phila. He worked with the Iron Workers Union Local 161 as a rigger for 47 years. At age 86 he authored a book titled "Breaching the Walls" and as a result, was featured in "The South Philadelphia Review." He is pre-deceased by a wife, Esther M. (nee Ercolani). He is survived by a son, Joseph Corvi of N.E. Phila. and a daughter, Jennie M. Colianni of Drexel Hill. He is also survived by one grandson and four granddaughters, and eight great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to call Thursday after 9am at St. Bernadette's Church, Turner Ave. between Bond and Marvine Aves. Drexel Hill, PA. Followed by his Funeral Mass at 10 AM. Interment PVT. In lieu of flowers contributions can be sent to Breast Cancer 3-Day, P.O. Box 650543, Dallas, TX 75265-0543. Joseph's granddaughter is participating in this event in Philadelphia in October. Please make checks payable to "Breast Cancer 3-Day" and write her participant ID number (3080125) on the memo line.
