Part 1 of 2 Paula’s departure will surely create a vacuum that will challenge those who knew and loved her to fill. However, there is an old Gypsy saying, “You have not yet departed until all those who knew you have departed”. The memory of Paula’s serenity and kind demeanor will dwell in the minds and hearts of her kindred community until everyone collectively has crossed through the threshold of our seemingly separate existences of living here in this worldly realm and in the realm of beyond “here and now”. I too was once captivated by a vivacious, red-haired woman (Cory) who possessed features strikingly similar to Paula’s. Like Paula, she was called from her earthly domain by the same kind of affliction that overcame Paula. To make matters even more personally relevant, Paula was specifically afflicted with the very same illness that challenged me back in 1999. When I attempt to reconcile the incongruent reality of myself yet being alive, while Cory who died six years ago, and now Paula, who has passed on at the same age as Cory, I am reminded and even comforted by a poem authored by W.O. Abbott, which I recently shared with a friend who is a volunteer with hospice. “For years I never knew, if twilight was the end of day or beginning of night. Suddenly, one day, I understood it didn’t matter at all This is but a circle and there can be no beginning and no ending. – Jerry Brunetti

Dear Alex and Sarah, Your mother loved you so much. I admired her for so many reasons but most for her family values. She knew exactly how she would be raising you and followed that plan. Her goals are now your goals. May her love guide you through your life, her beautiful smile touch your hearts forever and when challenged remember to ask yourself "What would Mom want me to do?" She loved and taught you so well. My heart aches for what you are going through right now but my faith says that some day we will all know the answer to why life goes this way and we won't be disappointed. John, Alex, Sarah and families~ It has taken me almost two weeks to finally be able to read Paula's obituary... My heart has been so heavy and continues to feel this way every day. I cannot imagine what you are going through. No words can make it easier. Only memories of Paula's kindness, gentleness, warmness, compassion, and most of all FAITH, is what makes me see the good in this. She has touched my life like no other. She was never afraid to show her love for God. I am hoping a piece of Paula's heart will always be a part of mine now, so I can grow and learn from her. I see her smiling face where ever I go. She is truly an angel above us. Love all of you. Jeanne Ann – jeanne ann confalone

The sacred passing of a beloved and gracious soul is a heavy cross to bear. Our deepest condolences to all those who love Paula and may they have her love returned to them with God's blessing. So sad to learn that Paula's body could not contain her brilliant Spirit any longer and that her Light has returned to Heaven. I never had the privilege of meeting Paula, but heard how wonderful it was to be near her through you, Theresa. You always spoke with high regard of Paula's graciousness and the loving bond that exists among her husband and two beautiful daughters. Dear God, may her loving energy and Your Grace find her family and friends and fill their bereaved hearts with warmth and eternal Hope. Respectfully... – Victoria Walsh

Part 2 of 2 This is how I came to know that birth and death are one. And it is neither the coming or going that is of consequence…… What is consequence is the BEAUTY that one gathers in the interlude called LIFE.” For sure, Paula had acquired and bestowed untold as well as measurable amounts of BEAUTY in her life. Her tirelessly devoted husband John, her sparkling young daughters, Alexandria and Sara are the obvious corporeal embodiment of that BEAUTY. Yet, in addition to her loving family of parents, siblings and close friends, all those who even once met this effervescent vessel of sweetness, kindness and authenticity would be forever affected, no matter the circumstances. It is thus no coincidence that Paula’s salon was aptly called “Bella”. Thank you Paula, for the Beauty you brought to us all, allowing us to gather what you created and selflessly gifted to us all, like a fragrant rose that perfumes our air or the morning dove’s song which fills our chamber. May we enrich our own lives and the lives of those we love with your gifts which we now understand to be everlasting. Godspeed to you on your new journey and may your twinkling eyes and star-lit smile be eternally accessible to those of us that cherish the kind of BEAUTY we need so much of. Love, Joy, Peace and Blessings to you, Bella. Jerry Brunetti – Jerry Brunetti

I am hoping there is a better place without pain where you can continue to exist as that light of "it's all good" that you shone on so many people effortlessly as it was your nature. Dear John, Alex, Sarah, Dr and Mrs Totani, Dominic, Theresa, Betsy, Maria, Kristan, and Louis, It is with a heavy heart that I sign this guest book. There are many words that come to mind when I think of Paula...but the one that stands out shining is SPECIAL. She was special to so many people. She loved her family like no other person I have ever met. John, she loved you so much. You were meant for one another. Alex and Sarah, Mommy was so proud of you. I see her in both of you. Keep her spirit girls..your life will be full of happiness if you do that. Dr and Mrs Totani, you did a wonderful job of raising your children because they all have that sense of God is first and family is second....but the two intertwine and that's is what has made all your children wonderful people. Her brothers and sisters and nieces and nephews were people she adored. She loved you all with all her heart. Paula was a true friend..so rare to find today. She was humble, generous, honest, and loving. The times we spent together were filled with laughter and fun and that is what I will carry with me in my heart. I feel blessed and honored to have had Paula as my friend. Dearest Paula, I know you are in a happy place smiling with the angels you so portrayed while here on this earth. I will miss you dear friend. Rest assured of my prayers for comfort and peace. With love, prayers, and respect, Caroline Giovannini – Caroline Giovannini

What if Paula truly was an angel? What if Paula was really not of this world? Paula never complained. She always smiled. She loved God. She brought everyone in her life closer to Him. She was always positive. She was always concerned. She was tolerant. She was an incredible wife and wonderful mother. She was an ideal daughter. She was a fantastic friend. She was radiant. There is little anyone can say at this time, but I would like to share a poem with you that helped me in a later stage of grief when I lost my husband. And if I go while you're still here... Know that I still live on Vibrating to a different measure Behind a thin veil you cannot see through. You will not see me So you must have faith. I wait the time when we can soar together again Both aware of each other. Until then, live your life to the fullest. And when you need me, Just whisper my name in your heart ..I will be there. – Gerri DeMilio

Dear John Alex and Sarah It has taken us a long time to be able to even grasp our thoughts. We can't imagine what you all must have just gone through. We even here have shed many tears with you and know that Paula will always be greatly missed. We can find peace in knowing her body is healed and she is sitting at the feet of Jesus with her beautiful smile waiting for your reunion someday. We pray the Lords strength will carry you through those rough times and picture him carrying you with one set of footprints in the sand. We loved Paula. You hold on tight to those wonderful memories of such a beautiful woman. Her smile, always a positive attitude, love for her family, her Christian encouragement to others, her fun personality just made you want to be around her, she was beautiful on the inside and out. Even then, you could hear the smile in her voice, and her positive attitude yet acceptance of her situation. Paula was such a tremendous influence in my life, inside the workplace and out, and she added so much to it that she will always be remembered with grace, generosity, beaming of happiness and sincere concern for others. I feel a great sense of loss and I will miss the conversations that we had, the fun we had and just seeing that beautiful smile of hers that just warmed you up as soon as you walked through to door.
