A Year and a Day

Hi John, it has now been a year and a day and the world went insane since you've been gone. A pandemic hit the world; the virus went everywhere! Millions of people got sick. Countries lockdown everyone to their homes for a stay in place order for weeks and months. They shut down businesses causing larger unemployment records than the great depression. Your residential state either ordered or suggested you to wear masks all the time. The phrase "Social distancing" is now understood by all. You had to stand in line for food. You couldn't always get meats, veggies or cleaning products. Can you believe there was a TP shortage!! In all of this insanity, YOU are so very much missed. Love you John.

John and cars

Hi John. It has been a month today. I miss you. I wanted to tell you about my new car. I just traded in my pilot for a ridgeline. I remember all of the work you and Pete did to keep my first car on the road. There was the drivers window that suddenly fell inside the door frame then there were 3 radiators that just disintegrated. Don't forget you used a broom handle to listen to a funny noise I heard. You and Pete told me to go out and buy a water pump. Sure enough I broke down on southbound I95. You and Pete fixed the car again in my apartment parking lot. Bet you were glad when I bought a new one. Thanks for you help.

John our hero

I realized later in life that camping is NOT my forte. However, when you are a kid, camping was just another family vacation adventure. On this trip, we all went to French Creek. Us kids were young. My sister and I walked to the latrines just before bedtime. We did not realize that the light in the room was from another camper. When the light was gone, we could no longer see. And, yes, as typical girls we were scared and started screaming. But, it was only a moment when we saw a light coming towards us. There was John, coming to find his sisters.

John the artist

when I was 12 or 13, my brother decorated my helmet by painting peanut characters around the edge. Peppermint Patty was front and center. More than 40 years later, I still remember it, what a wonderful gift.
