Steven Lindsey Redmond 1968 - 2019

Steven (Steve) Lindsey Redmond, age 51, died on December 17, 2019, at Christiana Hospital in Wilmington, DE, after an illness.

Steve was born in 1968 in La Mesa, California, to Bill and Rosemary Lindsey. When he was young, the family moved to Wilmington, DE, where Steve attended St. Catherine of Siena Elementary School and St. Elizabeth High School. In 1990 he graduated from Mount Saint Mary's University in Emmitsburg, MD, with a degree in English and minors in psychology, philosophy, and communications. Information technology and cybersecurity became his career as well as his hobbies, and he was an exceptional manager who cared about his staff. From his father he developed a love of art, photography, and cooking; from his mother he got his abiding love for family. From both parents he got his love for travel (especially Ireland and France) and for the beach (especially the Jersey shore), and he could swim like a dolphin. He was a proud geek and a voracious reader who read the Encyclopedia Britannica as a child and was doing his best to read the entire Internet as an adult.

Steve married Jeanette Fast in 2005, and in 2014 they adopted their daughter, Sophia, who was the greatest joy of Steve's life. He taught Sophia to love the ocean as much as he did, and to her he passed on his curiosity and his love of science. In his last days it made him very happy to know that Sophia has become obsessed with the solar system and human anatomy. His passing at Christmas is especially difficult because he relished the holiday season. His greatest desire was to be the "giving tree" for everyone, and he became a tissue donor through the Gift of Life organization upon his death.

Steve is survived by his wife, Jeanette, and their young daughter, Sophia, of Ardmore, PA; his mother, Rosemary Lindsey, of Wilmington, DE; his brother, Bryan Lindsey, and two nephews, Finn and Tucker, of Holmes, PA; and his niece, Victoria Fast, of Lawrence, KS. He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Lindsey, and they are probably sitting together on some beach in Heaven, swapping stories.

Steven wished to be cremated. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on December 28, 2019, by Fr. John Hynes at St. Catherine of Siena Parish in Wilmington, DE. Visitation will be immediately beforehand at the parish, beginning at 9:30. A funeral lunch will follow offsite for friends and family. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made in his name to two organizations:
Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption, https://bit.ly/38TtwQP

Fisher Center for Alzheimer's Research Foundation, https://www.alzinfo.org/donate/donation_form.
