Ronald Putman 1950 - 2020

Ronald Marvin Putman, Sr., loving husband to Vanessa Scott Putman, passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at the age of 70 with his wife, brother Lewis and daughter Jessica by his side.

The morning of his passing the family held a Zoom session in which each of his children, his cousin, Niecey and niece Tasha professed their love and gratitude to him, he heard it all, acknowledging by smiling and nodding.
Ronald was the third child born April 25, 1950 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Lewis Curvy Putman II & Mildred Collier Putman, both of whom were waiting in heaven to greet him.
Ronald was educated in the Philadelphia Public school system attending elementary school, and graduated from Bok Vocational School.  He then went on to attend Temple University where he received an Associate’s degree.
Ronald had 4 children with his former wife, Portia Boyd (Connie) whom he married in 1971, Rhonda Putman, Ronald Putman Jr., Marc Putman, and Maurice Putman.
On August 29, 1992, Ronald married his current wife Vanessa Scott, of Philadelphia PA, gaining a stepson Isaac Scott and from this union they had a daughter Jessica Putman.
Ronald joined the Philadelphia Police Department serving the city of Philadelphia for 17 years before retiring due to a work-related injury.
After a time of healing Ronald worked for the Philadelphia Stock Exchange and then moved on to PNC Bank where he retired in 2012.
Ronald was a loving husband and father. He was very supportive of his children and all the children in the family. He assisted in coaching the boys little league for several years at Eastwick Park, not just coaching ball but mentoring, teaching respect, being supportive and molding the young children.
One of Ronald’s biggest accomplishments was being a father. His children, called their dad a superhero, and even as adults, still see him that way. He was always there for them through their ups and downs, and taught them to enjoy life.
He enjoyed being around his family having large gatherings, his favorites were having cookouts with all his children and grandchildren around. As an Uncle, Ronald helped raise his niece Natasha (Tasha) Putman and nephews Eric Putman, Cranston Putman and Philip Putman (deceased) while his brother Cranston served in the Army.
Ronald’s “cousin sisters”, Aunt Mary’s children, Denise (Niecey) Pelham Waldo, Verleader Pelham (deceased), and Jennifer Bryant (deceased) were always together as they grew up. He also took part in raising their children, and had a special relationship with Niecey’s son Troy (deceased).
Ronald and his brother Lewis had a special bond both enjoying their sports and Stoli was just one. There are a lot of stories told about these two along with their buddies Stan and Alphonso.
Ronald leaves to mourn his wife, Vanessa Putman; daughters Rhonda Putman and Jessica Putman; sons Ronald Putman Jr., Marc Putman, Maurice Putman and wife Arnita and stepson Isaac Scott; 18 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild, 2 brothers Cranston Putman & Lewis Putman III, 1 Aunt, Mary Bryant and a host of cousins, family and friends.
