Memory Book

Raymond was my sister's husband, although they had never married but lived together for a number of years. He sired a son by her, Antonine (Todd) Tumarkin. They met in San Francisco through me and I remember Ray as a very soft-spoken, intense person. I never really knew him that well, but I know he was kind and giving. He and my sister later moved to Philadelphia where his parents lived. I was sad to hear of his passing, but not surprised as he had had a stroke and suffered loss of memory. He was always finding articles of interest, mostly of a political nature and kept them in a scrap book. I know he met a woman, later on, who was a writer of children's books, which seemed fitting for him, as he loved to create toy animals (on the sewing machine) for children. We never got along, but towards the end of his life, we made amends and I wish I had had a chance to say a final goodbye to him as he played such an important and tumultous role in my sister's and my lives.
