Miss you Brother

To my college mate and Brother Bill-

I can't believe I have to say goodbye to you. From our enervated college days to the group events, I never wanted to miss a chance to share time with you. I have conjured up so many memories- too many to share. That said, your eclectic sense of humor was like no one I'd ever met. The letters and emails we'd send back and forth were the product of minds in constant motion. Your laugh was full throttle and engaging. Thankfully we got to share a laugh near the end of your life. A full life wrapped into 59 years. I'll never forget you my Brother, and I'll always wish we could have another go of it. Rest in peace, Bill. Keep them stirred up above. Hood

Best Boss Ever!

I am so shocked and deeply saddened to learn of Bill's passing. I was privileged to serve as his Executive Administrative Assistant for 11+ years at Williams Scotsman. Bill made it so easy--and enjoyable to come to work every day! He was a kind, gentle soul, with unending patience and a great sense of humor. He always spoke kindly of everyone and was highly respected by all who knew him.

I got to know his family; Sue, Kelsey, and Hanna. I never got to meet Nathan; I believe he was born right before we moved to NC. I also remember Bill sharing about his sister, Carol, who had surgery. Carol, I had the same surgery about 7 years ago!

I know Bill has left a huge hole in many hearts--mine included. I will never forget him--and I have two reminders of him in my home... a beautiful paperweight in my desk that holds down our receipts and a bottle of wine in our wine rack (still unopened), both of which he brought back to me from his trip to Italy so many, many years ago!

I am praying for all of his family during this most difficult time that you would all draw near to the Lord for comfort and peace.

To Sue: I would love to connect with you and catch up on the last 20 years.
To Carol: I would love to meet you in person if you still live in Cary (we live in Apex).
If either or both of you read this and care to reach out to me, my email address is: dnjstopper@gmail.com

With my deepest sympathy,
Diana Stopper (or as Bill used to call me, "Lady Di")

He'll always be Billy to me

You knew when Bill(y) entered the room. He didn’t demand attention but people would just be drawn to him because he could find a way to connect with everyone. He just generated warmth and good humor and was always ready with a good story or song. I am thankful to have so many happy memories of him through the years (many with a mischievous twinkle in his eye).

Bill was golden

My brother Bill was very observant. I remember going out in public with him. He would befriend Everyone we encountered: the 7-11 clerk, the restaurant server, the delivery driver... He would see something special about the person and make a comment. If the person was receptive, he continued the conversation, always ending in making the person laugh, brightening their day. He was magic.

Several years ago, I came home from surgery. My brother Bill drove to my house (six hours away) to bring me a huge bouquet of flowers. Then he had to go back to his town. He just wanted to make sure I was okay.

Bill was very special and gifted in so many ways. His kindness, humor, and wisdom marked him as a talented man. It was evident from the day he tried to fly like Superman (jumping from the mantel above the fireplace) that he had high ambitions for life! I was very proud to be his Aunt Barb.
