Bud, I smile just thinking about you...

Bud, now that you are light and love, traveling the universe again in the ether you will already know how very much you are/were appreciated. Your love and support, seeing your smiling face out there in the audience and hearing your stories ....you will be missed. Relieved to hear your passage was painless and in your sleep. Sorry to hear that you are no longer in body and to think I'll not see you again (at least for a long while). Thank you for all of your kindnesses, recommendations, support and love. You truly made this world a better place. I bet you're sitting with someone right now telling them a good tale of yore. Love to you Bud. Safe travels. love gina

Bud - my #1 Fan

I met Bud Schoefer at Common Grounds Coffee House a community coffee house on Walnut Lane. There was no charge to neighborhood attendees. Donations were accepted for coffee, tea or various cakes that were sold. I am a musician/songwriter. I performed at Common Grounds. One of my favorite places. Bud was there every time I played. He introduced himself to me. Told me he liked my music. We had friends in common. I didn't know from that first meeting that Bud would attend just about every performance I had after this, be it in Philadelphia, New Jersey and even as far as the Poconos. The last time I saw Bud was at the Deer Head Inn in the Poconos when I played there this past October. I always wondered how he got around. I always knew I would have a great gig if Bud was there. He sat next to my twin sister in the audience at Deer Head Inn. I recall my sister telling me "Lili he sang along with each song, and man, he had some voice". I thought for certain I'd see Bud at my upcoming gigs in a few weeks. I had no idea about his past except that he sang in various choirs. I am glad to have something to hold on to. Bud knew I am an avid NY Yankees fan. He gave me a Yankee cap (official) for my birthday one year. He was wonderful and will be sorely missed. I am sad to even be writing a condolence. Bud is in the heavens, hearing all the great choirs and musicians. No doubt, he will send me sign that he is ok.

Winona Street Neighbor

I sympathize in your loss.
In knowing Charles, only as "Bud", it was great to read about his life.

Bud would allow me to give him rides back from Center City, or to/from where ever his journey was that day, Bud would tell me the history of Philadelphia and Pennsylvania politics. Being a non-native to Philadelphia nor Pennsylvania, I appreciated listening to the history and stories of a different time.

One time, Bud was at a bus stop in Center City. It was dark and there was someone in my passenger seat. He couldn't see me nor hear me well. Fortunately, another person waiting at the bus stop was able to help get the message to him. At first, he was like, "I'm not getting in the car. I don't know them." Then the person said, "It's Kimberly" --- "Who?" --- "Kimberly, your neighbor" --- "Oh, oh. Yes, I'll take the ride."

Glad to know he is safely home in his journey.
I will miss him.
