Name: Keith Amstutz
Entry: Everyone at USC considered Fred to be a friend. He was just that kind of guy. In 1973, Fred met me at the airport for my USC interview and I immediately knew he was a wonderful and unique individual. From the first performances on campus with the ALT Trio (Amstutz, Lane & Teuber) until our retirements, Fred was always there with a smile, sense of humor, and words of wisdom. Linda and I were talking about Fred and she reminded me about the Teuber Truck – the battered white pick-up which served for many years as the departmental truck for any music faculty member. Fred would loan his truck to anyone in need, his only request was that the truck returned with the same amount of gas in the tank. I wonder just how many friends the Teuber Truck moved. Fred was a wise colleague, a wonderful musician, and a good friend. Fred, you will be missed.

Entry: Janet et al -- am very sorry to learn of Fred's passing. I first met him in September 1968 when I auditioned for the Columbia Philharmonic and then enjoyed sitting next to him in the orchestra for several years. He encouraged and assisted me in returning to school and getting a music degree at USC. He was not only a caring teacher, he was a dear and personal friend. As will many others, I shall miss him.
