George McBride's Story

George J. McBride, 72, of Norwood, PA, died Thursday, February 16, 2012 at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital, Philadelphia. George was born in Philadelphia, PA where he lived until age 26. He then moved to Delaware County and has lived there all of his life. George worked as a truckdriver for The Bulletin for 15 years. He also served as a bartender at the Mozee Inn and Gera's Cafe. George retired in 2004. A longtime musician, George played in multiple bands as a singer and a bass player. He also played in various pool leagues in Delaware County, including the Millennium League. He was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians in Briarcliffe and a member of the American Legion in Norwood. George enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, especially at their trailer in Cecilton, MD. He also had many friends which will remember him for his practical jokes, his sense of humor and his kindness. George was the son of the late John and Evelyn White McBride and the brother of the late James and Evelyn McBride. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Friel McBride of Prospect Park; a son, Thomas E. McBride of Chesterbrook, PA; two daughters, Tracy McBride of Glenolden and Tara McBride of Prospect Park; two brothers, Jack McBride of Glenolden and Frank McBride of Norwood; three sisters, Myrtle Taylor of Broomall, Beverly McBride of Philadelphia and Dottie McBride of Oxford; mother-in-law, Dorothy "Shorty" Yankus; 7 grandchildren, Jonny, Tyler, Brianna, Nathan, Noah, Jayden and Taliyah and one great-grandson, Jonathan. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service Wednesday evening 8 pm at the McCausland-Garrity Funeral Home, 202 S.
